What were the top three priorities for you in planning your wedding?
1. My top priority was keeping it simple, I wanted it to be a very beautiful day, but without it being too over the top.
2. The venue. From the beginning of the planning process I had made it clear that the two things I felt most important was to find the right venue and…
3. The right photographer.
Throughout your wedding planning did you have a moment where you were a Bummed Bride?
Yes. Finding the right dress was a real challenge. I initially knew that what i was looking for was a unique yet simple vintage dress, but i quickly discovered that vintage wedding dresses are not easy thing to find. I continued to shop online and some of the usual bridal stores around town, and even ordered three separate dresses online, but none were right. I had nearly given up.
One day nearly a month before the wedding, still not having found the right dress, I was out thrift store shopping with my sister when she picked up a lacy dress and joked about this being ‘The Dress'. I ended up buying it without trying it on, or even the intention of it being my dress. When I finally tried the dress on, several days after the fact, the style and fit was perfect. I had found the bohemian vintage style dress that i had been looking for.
Did you do a first look? Would you recommend it to future brides?
Yes, we did. It was actually Evan's idea, and I would highly recommend it. I felt it was such a special and intimate moment between Chris and I, him seeing me without everyone else around and me being able to see more of his initial reaction.
What was your favorite part about wedding planning?
I had a lot of fun looking on Pinterest for wedding ideas, shopping, and making the decor and centerpieces.
What is your best advice to future brides?
My advice to all brides is to have a good idea or style in mind of what you're wanting for the wedding before you begin the serious planning process. Having that in mind would have helped me out a lot. I had seen all sorts of ideas on Pinterest and online of some things i really liked, but when it came down too it all the ideas and styles didn't all mesh. I then sort of struggled through the whole wedding planning process of knowing what style/look I really was wanting.
Another thing I would recommend to all brides is to just try and enjoy the wedding planning, and the time before the wedding and soak everything in. You only get that moment once, so try to make it enjoyable, and have fun!
